Women’s 1′s – Round 2 vs UTS 2:
Result: 1-1 draw (1-0 down at halftime)
General Jist: They scored off a short in the first 2 minutes and it was an arm wrestle from there. We were probably more skilled but they had better intensity. We had 3 shorts after the final siren and couldn’t put them away.

Result: 2-1 win against UTS
Goals to Rhian and Lawsy
The game plan was simple; utilise a hard press and dominate them with our skill, and that we did. After spending the first 25 minutes in UTS’ half, Mac were eventually rewarded with a goal. After a strong play up the right hand side, Narco fired a rocket of a cross from the baseline and Rhian managed to get a stick on it for a deflection.
The second half message was to put in extra effort to really turn the screws on the weaker UTS team. Lawsy managed to hammer home a toma to put us up 2-0. UTS made somewhat of a fightback towards the end, making a few breaks against out tiring squad. One of these resulted in a very strange deflection off Lou’s stick to bring the score back to 2-1. A mention must also go Amanda who managed to fend off a dangerous one-on-one late in the game. 2-1 didn’t really reflect 2nd grade’s dominance over the majority of the game

Result: 4-0 loss to UTS
Look, I’m going to get this out of the way… We went down 4-0… However with another fine display of double ups from 3rd and 4th grade, we had a definite improvement on our game structure from last week. Strong work from Alex Woodruff and a great cameo appearance from Amanda Wickham made a great difference in a game where we had a lot of trouble getting our play into the front 25. With good numbers at training and increasing with every week the loss to a stronger (and let’s not deny it) ‘older’ UTS team will be forgotten as our skills on the ball and as a team come around. Well done chappettes!

Result: 2-0 win against PLC Old Girls
Goals to Lisa Grant
Two in a row for the 4th grade girls as we overcame a depleted but committed PLC Old Girls side (who weren’t really that old) 2-nil, both goals which were scored in the first half, and both were scored by Lisa Grant, who terrorised PLC’s left hand side defence with her jinking runs and pace, which led to her being named players player. Although the PLC old girls were lacking players, they did not lack commitment, and it took solid defence by our defenders, especially Sarah and Emma, back for her first game, to get us out of trouble, and some great goalkeeping by Kate P. We need to work on our attack as the score could have been much greater, otherwise we have a good chance next week to start the season with three wins in a row.
